Abstract We model the Neupert effect that relates flare heating energy with observed soft X-ray (SXR) emission. The traditional form of refers to correlation between time-integrated hard or microwave light curve and SXR curve. In this paper, we instead use as proxy for ultraviolet (UV) emission at footpoints loops modify by taking into account discrete nature heating, well cooling. modified empirical model, spatially resolved UV curves from transition region upper chromosphere are each convolved a kernel function characterizing decay loop Contributions all summed compare total has successfully reproduced its rise decay. To estimate energies in loops, also employ footpoint calorimeter (UFC) method infers rates these models evolution zero-dimensional hydrodynamic code. experiments show multitude impulsive events do not reproduce curve, but two-phase leads better agreement observations. Comparison two further allows us calibrate UFC improve continuously formed magnetic reconnection throughout evolution.
